Dr Shanthie Mariet D’Souza

Dr Shanthie Mariet D’Souza is Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), National University of Singapore.

She is presently working on projects on “Transition and Issues in Long term Stabilisation of Afghanistan”, “The Regional Dynamics of the Afghan insurgency” and “Afghanistan’s Stability Paradox”. Her research interest and expertise includes Afghan Insurgency and the Counter Insurgency campaign; Politics of Aid, Development and Security in Afghanistan; Terrorism and Strategies in Counter Terrorism; United States Counter terrorism policy in South Asia; Armed Conflicts in South Asia; Conflict Management and Mediation; Security Sector Reform; Civil-military relations; Great Power Politics; India’s foreign, aid and security policy and Prospects for Regional Cooperation in South and South East Asia.

Dr D’Souza has been a Fulbright Fellow at South Asia Studies, The Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC. She has been Associate Fellow, Institute for Defence Studies & Analyses, New Delhi; Research Associate at Database & Documentation Centre of the Institute for Conflict Management, Guwahati, Assam and Editorial Assistant at the United Service Institution of India, New Delhi. She has conducted field studies in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and India’s North East.
