Robin was most recently a UK government defence reform advisor, embedded in the Ukrainian MOD. He continues to support Ukraine to develop a national resilience strategy and as an adviser to HMG. Robin contributes to analysis and developments in the Balkans, Caucasus, and Central Asia and the Russian sphere of influence. He has a particular interest in defence, intelligence, and security reform and their interplay with social and political dynamics, as well as conflict resolution, international and regional geopolitical relations, and hydrocarbon security.
He maintains a network of political and defence contacts from senior leadership postings across these regions over the past three decades, including with the UK MOD, EU, and OSCE. He supports a range of government and civil society interventions and mentors future leaders in the region. He speaks fluent Russian and German.
